The Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Assistant to the Director position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.

The purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day operational support for the Director's office and primary administrative support to the Director of HMSC and other senior staff of the unit to facilitate the mission and coastal programs of Oregon State University (OSU) and strategic plan of HMSC. 

The HMSC is an administrative unit of OSU with a mission of research, education and outreach in marine and coastal sciences. The 49-acre HMSC campus is situated on an estuary in close proximity to the ocean, and has an extensive seawater system, research and teaching labs, classrooms, offices and a library. 

The HMSC Director's office manages the facilities, instruction, research, seawater, and space needs for approximately 120 resident OSU personnel, with an overall OSU budget of $19 million. It is also responsible for administrative and scientific cooperation for six federal programs and one state agency, four institutes, numerous OSU departments and colleges, and facilities supporting public education programs that serve approximately 150,000 visitors annually. It also facilitates coordination of and communication with OSU's coastal stakeholders.
