What's New:

I'm working to develop a coherent, broad consensus with other scientists and California's Governor Brown that is comprehensible to the public and announces our concern about the future of the world's environment.

The Earth curates the past in its sediments just as genomes store the histories of species.  While neither completely resolves all events in the history of the earth, exploration of both helps us to piece together the history of life and its interactions with the environment of our planet.  I use both of these records to unravel how vertebrate animals have responded to events of the past 20,000 years and I do so in order to provide insights about how they will handle the environmental changes of the future.
